PETRONAS Introduces Its First Mesra Drive-Thru C-Store In Malaysia

SELANGOR, 24 September 2008 - PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) today, redefines convenience with its ‘Mesra Drive-Thru’; a 24-hour drive-thru convenience store (c-store) at its service station in USJ 20, making it the first to be introduced within the petromart industry in Malaysia.

Mesra Drive-Thru aims to provide greater convenience to its customers who are ‘always on the go’ and require faster services. With Mesra Drive-Thru, you could just drive-thru and purchase your items without having to leave your car; save energy, save time - convenience redefined!

Apart from offering items available at Kedai Mesra c-store, which includes e-Pay and Touch & Go services, the drive-thru also features a display of 30 fast moving and hot selling items that are specially selected based on its sales performance at Kedai Mesra.

The items displayed include snack foods, beverages and other favourite fast selling items, which are revised on a weekly basis to ensure more variety and better selection for drive-thru customers. Mesra Drive-Thru customers can also purchase other items available at Kedai Mesra, which offers more than 2,500 line items.

PETRONAS Service Station USJ20 also offers a quick serve restaurant and banking services that includes an automated teller machine and a cash deposit machine.

Senior General Manager (Retail Business Division), PDB, Encik Mohd Fadzlan Abdul Samad officiated the first Mesra Drive-Thru at PETRONAS Service Station USJ 20, Subang Jaya.

PDB plans to set up 15 more Mesra Drive-Thru by the year 2010, in line with its business expansion plan.

Kedai Serba Mudah was first introduced in March 1996 at PETRONAS Service Station Subang Airport, followed by the launch of Kedai Mesra at PETRONAS Service Station Taman Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur in August.

The first co-branding partnership for Kedai Mesra began on September 1997 with A&W quick serve restaurant at PETRONAS Service Station USJ 2 while the first ATM was introduced in Kedai Mesra at PETRONAS Service Station Batu 7 Jalan Cheras.

In 2003, Malaysia’s first hyperstation with the concept of “One Stop Centre” was launched at PETRONAS Service Station Setiawangsa.

Today, PETRONAS has more than 900 service stations, including 5 hyperstations and 553 Kedai Mesra located nationwide. PETRONAS Service Stations offer 45 quick serve restaurants and 657 ATMs nationwide, and these will continue to grow.
