Bituminas PREMIUM-R is a new product developed by PETRONAS, with the backing of extensive research carried out entirely by its very own local scientists as its research centre, PRSS. Made from bitumen and rubber, Bituminas PREMIUM-R has been developed to provide a more cost-effective and superior binder for roads. This modified bitumen has the appropriate properties to enhance binder resistance to aging, rutting and cracking which will result in reduced pavement maintenance cost. |

The product can be applied with either the conventional ACWC or any Macadam type mix. Use of correct mix design as well tringent quality control will ensure the high performance of Bituminas PREMIUM-R. The same paving equipment and method used for laying plain bitumen can be used for Bituminas PREMIUM-R without compromising on the latter's advantages. The recommended temperature for laying of Bituminas PREMIUM-R mix is 140 degree Celcius and for compaction, it is 130 degree Celcius. This new Malaysian product has been used in road trials at Putrajaya, Malaysia's first Smart City and Nilai, Negri Sembilan.
