Witness an intriguing Mek Mulung traditional theatre entitled ‘Malim Bongsu’ to be performed by the PETRONAS Performing Arts Group (PPAG) at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP) on Friday, 20 April 07 and Saturday, 21 April 07 at 8.30 p.m. These performances are part of PETRONAS’ continuous effort to preserve the Malay cultural and traditional heritage.
The theatre narrates the story of Putera Malim Bongsu who disguises himself as a fisherman and falls in love with Puteri Siti Jagerlan. The princess’ father forces her to marry a rich merchant, Malim Panjang. On her wedding day, she becomes a monkey and vanishes into the jungle. Her father appeals to the villagers to search for his beloved princess and promises to marry her off to whoever that can break the spell cast on his daughter. Eventually, Putera Malim Bongsu manages to break the spell on Puteri.
To create a more impactful performance, PPAG has received assistance from Mek Mulung maestros, Salleh Embut and Saad Taib, from Wang Tepus, Jitra who act as performance advisors. These performances are directed by Roslee Mansor. The music is coordinated by Mohd Yazid Zakaria and A Sam Palal acts as the dance coordinator.
Here is an exclusive opportunity for you to experience dazzling performances by the PPAG at DFP. Your experience will be an unforgettable treat! For more information and ticket bookings, kindly call our Box Office at 03-2051 7008. |
