![]() FRAUD CASE: Promotion: Your Petronas Mesra Visa Card Thank you for writing to Mesralink. With reference to your feedback, we would like to confirm that there is a scam using PETRONAS name currently going around. PETRONAS wishes to inform that neither PETRONAS nor any subsidiary within its Group of Companies has conducted or authorized such promotion with HSBC BANK LONDON in any prize redemption schemes and appeals to the public not to respond to the email. This advice also extends to all e-mail or short message service (SMS) communications using PETRONAS' name in other promotions, prize redemption schemes, lucky draws or contests. The scam e-mail does not originate from Malaysia and the contact number provided in the e-mail is not a Malaysian number, which are tell-tale signs that should ring the alarm bells and raise suspicion on the part of the recipient of the e-mail. PETRONAS has communicated with the authorities as well as Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) which is the regulator for the communications and multimedia industry in Malaysia. MCMC has also issued statements regarding the scam.
