31. Can 4T engine oil be used to replace 2T engine oil?
No.
2T engine oil is specially formulated to reduce smoke production and exhibit deposits formation. If 4T is used instead, the level of smoke release would increase dramatically and during heavy usage, deposits could be formed. This would lead to the formation of carbon around piston, piston ring and other engine parts that would eventually caused “knocking”, “piston jammed” etc.
32. Can petrol engine oil be used for diesel engine?
Yes if the engine oil had achieved API SF standard and above.
Most of PETRONAS petrol engine lubricants had already achieved API CF standard. This is the performance standard for diesel engine. For that reason, the usage of petrol engine oil with API CF standard could be used for diesel engine. Most likely, low performance diesel engine like “pick-up”, van, 4WD and others require engine oil with API CF only.
However, the best way is to refer to the car manual for further clarification.

The duration at which the engine oil is being used is set by the original engine manufacturer OEM. Engine manufacturer determines the level of quality of engine oil needed. During warranty period, the best way is to abide the guidelines from the car manufacturer.
However, because of other factors such as the oil and air filter durability, contaminants such as sand and dust and heavy duty workload, we do not recommend engine oil change period to extent more that what OEM had recommended. “Oil and air filter” should also be changed accordingly.
34. How long PETRONAS petrol engine oil could still be used?

Several OEMs recommend longer oil change interval period.
During warranty period, the best way is to follow the guidelines given by the respective OEM. However, PETRONAS had done a lot of test and came to the conclusion that that its synthetic engine oil could still be used even after 10,000 km. Therefore, other contributing factors such as the durability of oil and air filter and the contamination from sandy dust, oil change interval exceeding 10,000km is not recommended.
Oil and air filter should also be changed according to the duration that has been set by the respective OEMs.
